History: Amitié was built by apprentices of three nations: Italy, France, and the United States in Rockport, Maine and was offered to France. Her launching ceremony on April 30, 1988 included speeches in French and English. Millicent Marshall, wife of vice President of AT&T – France, christened the gig. She was offered to France (Douarnenez) . She has the particularity that het main and mizzen mast are placed one bench forward in comparison to the other gigs. Participated at the Atlantic Challenges for France in 1988, 1990, 1992, 1994(?), 1996 and 1998(?) and 2000. Participated also to the Défi Jeunes marins in 2000. The gig was placed on retirement in 2016 and offered to the Dournenez Maritime Museum.
