History: In 1777 the Marquis de Lafayette, at the age of 19, left the port of Pasaia to fight for the Independence of the United States of America on board the frigate “La Victoire”. This expedition was organized by local forces. To honor this important event, the Basque gig, located in Pasaia, has been named after this decisive young leading figure. Participated to IAC 2016 in Denmark.
